The Harvest in Myanmar Child Missionary
Child Missionary here implies to take care of the orphans and children of the poor and to raise them.
From 1940 up to this day on, Kayah State has been battlefield because of various revolution caused by many mutinies. That’s the reason why and where foreigners and tourists are not allowed to visit. Being suffered of several battles for 56 years, the numbers of the orphans increase day by day. Furthermore, since it’s far away from development, scarcity of medicine, many diseases including malaria results helpless children in number. Almost everyone encounters hardship, starvation and insecurity, and there can not be found any organization to take prompt action of charity on the matters of uncountable children including the orphans. Many children, therefore, died, but no one emerges to stand with the survivors despite. Physical development of children goes together with their education. Likewise, high education goes along with successful progress of life.
The Government carries out the responsibility of poor children by conducting charities, and some missionaries start orphanage ministry. But, they cannot reach to even 10% of the State’s needs. In other word, the presently supported children are just only 10% of the total orphan population. It means there are still much more, ten times who are out of being neglected. It is a case of what no one can individually afford to solve. Since our country is underdeveloped, it’s more difficult. Any difficulty called “problems “should be handled by God’s way rather than by worldly formulas.
Out of many kinds of missionaries, children missionary which is established just mainly to take care of children is the most important and effective one to which Jesus Christ Himself posses in high concern (Matt. 18:6, 10, 14; Lk. 18:15-17). When we study these Scriptural verses, it is significant that today children are tomorrow leaders, and raising them in high concern is a missionary God wants us to do. To the Kingdom be extended by the children converts and to produce the future mission leaders, children themselves play a vital role; that’s why Jesus Christ takes care. In the Scriptures, as Jesus Christ directly commanded to do some missionary, so indirectly did to some missionaries. For instant, the Commandment “Go into the world and preach the Gospel” (Mark 16:15) is a direct commandment, and preaching Himself the truth of the Heavenly Kingdom (Matt.5:25-33), feeding the multitude (Matt. 14:17-20), healing the sick (Matt. 8:5-13) are indirectly showing the way how to do mission.
Since our country has been under Satan’s bondage for along time, it causes the country full of poverty. It’s naturally hard to instruct the adults, but children are easy to learn and to be instructed. In a class room, for instance, attended by 100 men and 100 children, men’s acceptance to believe is less than 20%. But children’s acceptance to what they learn is more than 85%.
To reduce Satan’s kingdom, children mission including the orphanage ministry is the most effective mission out of many ways. Therefore, as for Satan, he creates some crashes among Christians not to cooperate and using many methods he stops the missions. Even though Jesus Christ has triumphed the world by His precious Blood and then, if all of us serve in unity, this child charity will inevitably succeed.
We can’t compose by words about the vitality of child missionary at once. Briefly, we conclude that just only child charity is the supporting missionary which accomplishes the great commission of Jesus Christ.
These visions we conceive must have a focus to the whole country of Myanmar. In this country, the great missionary Dr. Adoniram Judson had sowed the seed of genuine Christianity since 1813. Now it draws near to 200 years long. Up to this day the population of Christianity is just only around 6% of the whole population. If we research why the rate of growth is very slow, we will find out the following facts:
*Wrong Mission Strategy
*Weakness or lack of Cooperation
*Not applying the historical lessons from the early Churches
Wrong Mission Strategy
In everywhere, every enterprise has the right principle or the right strategy. If not according to the principle nothing will be achieved. For instance, beans, pumpkins and some other fruits have to be cooked by the constant heat of fire. Or if the fire is burning unsteadily, turning cool and burn again, these fruits can not be eaten. Even such a small thing has the right strategy of cooking. Then, the Great Commission Jesus commanded, the right strategy is necessary.
The Effective Mission of Jesus Christ we are talking about has already been presented in the Article. Some believing leaders forget the triangle-cooperation (preaching, healing, feeding), and are just satisfied with the single preaching the Gospel. In fact, preaching the Gospel is the first step or the single foot out of three feet by which something can stand. Meaning to say that there should be added by the other major legs; Christ’s performances (healing the sick, feeding the hungry). Only when these three feet perform actively, we can call it the right Mission Strategy. The wrong strategy can not bring us to our goal. For example, it is the only right way using the space rocket to reach the moon. But in the same situation, if we use bull-carts or motorcar, we can’t reach to the moon because these are not the right essential ways. Then, though Christian Missionary takes nearly to 200 years long, the reason why no more growth than 6% is because of the wrong strategy.
Lack of cooperation
One of Christ’s mission strategies is cooperation. When He sent his disciples out, He matched up at least a pair (Mk.6:7). Jesus Christ is the omnipotent God Who can do everything, but He worked by the chosen twelve. According to these facts, a mission without cooperation can never be any effective strategy (Ecc. 4:9-12).
In Christ all believers are the children of God, and then there is no foreigner before God. In Myanmar country, some ministers boast on what they don’t get any support from foreign countries. Because of no connection with foreign countries or possessing all materials for missionary works, their rejection to any support from others seems to be blameless. But if we carefully consider, it’s absolutely not Christ’s strategy because He is the One Who worked together with His disciples. When He needed a colt to ride, His disciples went and brought that for Him (Matt. 21:6-7, Lk. 19:34). Even though sometimes unwillingness to be supported by others because of possessions seems a great blessing, shutting the door to those who are willing to participate by giving may be hardly called Christ’s way. Therefore, such kind of performances can not help the mission spread. Satan is naturally jealous on the unity or the cooperative performance of God’s son.
The cause a storm begins is that the natural wind blows from the more atmospheric pressure to the less atmospheric pressure. This is natural way God controls and He mercifully does these things to make alive all creatures, including human beings, which are dependent on the wind (or the air). Likewise, the flow of provision from the wealthy countries to the famished countries is a strategy of God. It’s the same in the early Church age that Antioch believers used to support the believers in Jerusalem (Acts). As the early Churches stood at once accord in performing, more than seventy million of new believers were added within 100 years of persecution.
Even though I am not going to mention in detail regarding the cooperative performance, every believer can see with spiritual eyes and obviously understand.
Failure to apply the historical lessons from the early Churches
The early Churches’ activities are seen like the following:
1. Evangelists themselves could afford to go to several places.
2. Every believer gave testimonies in everywhere the reached.
3. Having great concern on unbelievers, they gave their helpful hands out to them.
4. They bravely confronted the persecution.
5. They had potentiality to teach people till they could clearly believe and accept.
Because of these things, the early Christianity grew up to seventy million. We should learn the Church History to know that in the early age of the Church, though Satan and his companies persecuted believers, the History is proving that only believers were and are eventually conquerors by the Blood of Jesus. The problems we have been encountering today are not comparable enough to the experiences of the persecuted believers in the early Church Age. If we can consider wholeheartedly and apply each of five things above, the growth of new believers will inevitably bounce up. Especially in our country it is important to figure these five things out in practice.
We must mend our weakness accordingly and work with a vision to increase the believers in numbers. Enterprises what we have in our vision (including Fish Farming) are absolutely to provide the missionary’s needs. In other word, we imitate after what the Apostle Paul in his missionary eras did the mission by tent-making.
